Il sospirato ben
Il sospirato ben transaltes into love, passion, distance and longing for the beloved one. These emotions inspired our selection of Arias, which lyrics convey deep atmospheres of both pain and joy. Through this program La Favorita showcasts a special combination of baroque woodwind instruments, the chalumeau and the flute allemande, offering an unique soundscape of intimate, soft and warm colors, which anticipates the use of flute and clarinet in the orchestral setting typical of the second half of the 18° century. A very curious feature in our program is the direct hommage from Emperor Joseph I to the chalumeau, instrument which he was very fond of and for which he wrote a beautiful obbligato line in the aria “Tutto in pianto”, composed by the venetian Marc’Antonio Ziani.
